Even if you do not care about value.

PSA creates the best long-term options regardless of your plans for your collection.

This includes ALL TCG's including One Piece, Magic the Gathering, etc.

Now here you are having ripped countless packs with no success and now you are the verge of swearing off Pokemon forever. Then on your last pack you see the corner of Special Illustration Rare peeking out, not able to believe it, you start hyperventilating. Once you regain your faculties, you realize that the 852 bunk packs you ripped has lead to this moment.

Now what to do?

I am going to show you that the best option is NOT to stick it into a binder, but to grade with PSA and secure the value of the card, and create the most options for the future.

Tip #1 - The card's value MATTERS.

You have spent years ripping packs and making trades to acquire an ideal collection. You diligence has rewarded you with an impressive collection.

But if you would like keep it or expand it, here is why you should grade your cards.

Let say you have a rare Charizard in great condition.

You say to yourself why would I grade it, I already have the card and I do not care about the value.

Do not think about the monetary value to you, think of what the value is to others.

Why is that? Lets say you grade the card with PSA and it receives a PSA 10 and it increases the value by 200%.

Because buyers are now willing to pay a premium for that card, you can sell it and use the profits to repurchase that card in raw form.

While still having additional money to use to add more grails to your collection.

Tip #2 - PSA graded cards are Liquid.

Because PSA has been established as the go-to for Pokemon and TCG card grading. PSA graded cards have been the currency for many transactions.

If you ever need to sell your collection quickly for any reason.

PSA graded slabs are gold.

You will get the best prices, because not only is PSA the accepted standard for graded cards. People prefer a completed product.

If that card is raw, it could have damage that would deplete the value.

PSA card values are set with a chance to increase in value.

Tip #3 - PSA slabs are the best way to protect the card.

There was a video what went viral recently of a slab being broken apart despite being subjected to very little force. Needless to say the person was beside themselves. This is not to suggest that all grading companies have weak or substandard slabs, only to impress the point that PSA has had slabs out in the wild for well over 20 years.

They consistently attempt to innovate on their slabs and will continue to in the future. PSA uses polycarbonate with UV protection and a tamper-proof seal. PSA sonically seals the slab using directed sound waves. The sound accelerates the the molecules causing heat to the point of welding the plastic, creating the seal.

Tip #4 - PSA graded cards are preferred when trading.

As I mentioned above, the market has decided that the standard for graded Pokemon cards is PSA. Any trip to your local card show verifies this fact, in spades. Entire displays are filled exclusively with PSA slabs.

Because PSA slabs are the accepted currency for transactions, trades between them are much easier and thus preferred.

No one wants to argue the merits of one grading company's slabs over another, and their "proper" value when everyones goal is to make deals.

Tip #5 - PSA graded cards add the MOST value.

Obviously I show (below) an incredible recent card sale to hammer home a point, but it reflects reality. In the last 18 months the market has shifted for TCG's in general and Pokemon in specific.

While this has been true for sports cards for many years, there is a general agreement that PSA graded cards., especially PSA 10's are the premium product in the collectables realm.

The price has reflected that, and it has had an significant effect on PSA themselves.

If you check the grading details from month to month PSA is grading over 90,000 cards per day (dwarfing the other grading companies) and over half of them are Pokemon!

Amongst the most popular recent Pokemon sets,

PSA is grading over 85% of ALL graded Pokemon cards!

Frankly it is hard to find matching sales between the different grading companies because the public has already declared PSA the winner.
